Punjabi Dhaaba, Viman Nagar

Yet another dhaaba, serving authentic Punjabi food. But this is not like the other places, as it offers quality food and plus is value for money. It serves all the delicious Punjabi dishes straight from the heart of Punjab. The owners belong to Punjab and are extremely friendly.
This place is always packed with people. Don’t go on the ambiance. It is a small place occupied by students and people living in and around Viman Nagar. It serves extremely tasty food which is light on the pocket too. For people loving Punjabi food this is the ultimate place.
The best thing about this place is that you can order as much as you want. With options like – quarter, half and full, you can try multiple dishes without spending much money.
For the butter chicken lovers, you have to give it a try. It has authentic Punjabi flavor with low spice. It is slightly sweet and the gravy is extremely thick. It has boneless chunks of chicken. You will be amazed to see the quantity. Trust me a quarter plate is more than enough for two people.

For people who like spicy food, they can go for the kadhai chicken. You can specify the amount of spice you want. ‘Don’t be shy and ask what you want’ is their motto.

For the vegans the Punjabi cuisine has many dishes- “Dal makhani” being the top rated. It is very different from what you will get in other places in Pune. It has that real Punjabi taste with lots of homemade ‘makhan’ in it. Not to forget the “makki de rote te surson da saag combo” (Yummieee). It is the second famous dish in punjab after butter chicken.

All the paneer dishes on the menu are good. The best is the paneer butter masala. It has thick gravy garnished with a lot of butter. Chole masala and Alloo Jeera are also worth a try.

The tandoori roti is made of whole wheat and is very soft and tasty. It has a lots of butter and is served hot. The naan and paranthas are simply toothsome.

You can’t miss their “Patiala Lassi” which is thick, chilled and garnished with a dollop of cream. They also have an “OMG Lassi”! To end your meal on a sweet note a bowl of kheer is perfect. Kheer is their specialty. It has rice, cashews and lots of resins.

So, if you are a Punjabi at heart or in search of mumma’s khana in Pune, just rush to this place. And yesss prepare to wait, this place is always full. But trust me – “sabar ka phal meetha hota h”. Enjoy!!!!
