Punjabi Dhaaba, Viman Nagar

Yet another dhaaba, serving authentic Punjabi food. But this is not like the other places, as it offers quality food and plus is value for money. It serves all the delicious Punjabi dishes straight from the heart of Punjab. The owners belong to Punjab and are extremely friendly.
This place is always packed with people. Don’t go on the ambiance. It is a small place occupied by students and people living in and around Viman Nagar. It serves extremely tasty food which is light on the pocket too. For people loving Punjabi food this is the ultimate place.
The best thing about this place is that you can order as much as you want. With options like – quarter, half and full, you can try multiple dishes without spending much money.
For the butter chicken lovers, you have to give it a try. It has authentic Punjabi flavor with low spice. It is slightly sweet and the gravy is extremely thick. It has boneless chunks of chicken. You will be amazed to see the quantity. Trust me a quarter plate is more than enough for two people.

For people who like spicy food, they can go for the kadhai chicken. You can specify the amount of spice you want. ‘Don’t be shy and ask what you want’ is their motto.

For the vegans the Punjabi cuisine has many dishes- “Dal makhani” being the top rated. It is very different from what you will get in other places in Pune. It has that real Punjabi taste with lots of homemade ‘makhan’ in it. Not to forget the “makki de rote te surson da saag combo” (Yummieee). It is the second famous dish in punjab after butter chicken.

All the paneer dishes on the menu are good. The best is the paneer butter masala. It has thick gravy garnished with a lot of butter. Chole masala and Alloo Jeera are also worth a try.

The tandoori roti is made of whole wheat and is very soft and tasty. It has a lots of butter and is served hot. The naan and paranthas are simply toothsome.

You can’t miss their “Patiala Lassi” which is thick, chilled and garnished with a dollop of cream. They also have an “OMG Lassi”! To end your meal on a sweet note a bowl of kheer is perfect. Kheer is their specialty. It has rice, cashews and lots of resins.

So, if you are a Punjabi at heart or in search of mumma’s khana in Pune, just rush to this place. And yesss prepare to wait, this place is always full. But trust me – “sabar ka phal meetha hota h”. Enjoy!!!!

Caffe Patisserie

This is one of my favorite cafes in KP. It is a small, cozy place where you can have a chat with your friends over a cup of steaming hot coffee or drinks without burning a hole in your pocket. This place has both indoor and outdoor seating with a lavish spread on the menu. It serves rolls, burgers, pizzas, hot dogs, salads, pastries, deserts and tit bits like garlic breads, French fries, nachos and lots more. Not to forget the amazing coffee and hot chocolate served here. For the mock tail lovers there is Mojito on the menu and some crushes too (yuummm !!).

What we love about this place is their hospitable nature which makes you feel comfortable and at home. They serve you with a smile. The manager is amicable and the ambiance is very cozy with comfortable sofas. The outdoor seating gives it a unique charm.

This place has something special for the mushroom lovers – “Mushroom garlic Bread”. Yea, you read it right people! Mushrooms! God, it’s amazing!! It is a perfect blend of mushrooms and rich butter, garnished with cheese. It totally melts in your mouth. Just go for it. Whether or not a mushroom lover, it is worth a try.

Next is the “Pink Pasta”. Have you ever wondered how a little cheese in the red sauce pasta or a hint of tomato in the white sauce pasta would just make it perfect? Well…. I always did. So for people like me, ‘Pink’ sauce is the question answered. It is cheesyyyy and saucy with a perfect mix of red and white sauce (and thus the colour pink). The pasta is tender and has just the perfect amount of seasoning and flavor. For the chicken lovers, go for any kind of chicken pasta and you will be amazed to see the amount of chicken chunks in the pasta, rightly cut and of the appropriate size.

The lasagna is again cheesyyy and creaammyy and we would recommend the mutton lasagna. The ‘CP special Kheema Pav’ is also one of the best dishes on the menu. In short you can try anything on the menu and trust me you won’t be disappointed.

People having a sweet tooth can try the pastries. They are ultimate!!! Chocolatyyy and tasty!!
The amazing food, great prices and great service will make this place on top of your favorites’ list.

Perks And Brews, Viman Nagar

This is a small and cozy café hidden in one of the by-lanes of Viman Nagar. If you feel like grabbing a cup of hot coffee or just chilling out, this is the perfect place for you. The ambiance is very impressive and soothing. There are quite a few board games and books, so you can just sit back and relax there for the whole day. And Yessss not to forget the free wifi!!! (This is the best thing). So its normal to find the place packed with a lot of students.

This café has an exciting range of Mocktails , which are a must try. All the dishes in the menu are delicious but I would personally recommend the sandwiches. My favorite is the Angry Bird burger. It just melts in your mouth and leaves you wanting for more.

You must go for the Irish coffee and the Mocha if you are a caffeine junkie. The BBQ Chicken Pizza is also highly recommended. If you just want some munchies I would recommend you to try out some nachos.  Don’t worry if you are not a big coffee lover, Perks and Brews has sumptuous lip smacking shakes to offer too!! Talking about shakes, I wouldn’t miss the Chocolate Overload Shake if I were you. You will NOT regret your decision!! EVER!

The service is quick and the waiters are friendly. They have both indoor and outdoor seating. Perks and Brews is an amazing place to hang out with your friends or take your girlfriend out for a quiet date :) !!. The money you spend is totally worth it. You will love the music, they have an awesome playlist. So guys and gals, just visit Perks and Brews the next time you are in the area, grab a guitar or a book, sip your coffee and just hang your boots. So don’t forget to try this place, and if you have already tried it do comment below and share you experience with us. Hope you enjoy Perks and Brews as much as I did.

The Pune Zarthosti Seva Mandal

This place is really gonna win your heart. A small shop on MG Road with amazing food and exciting happy hours!! It is “The Pune Zarthosti Seva Mandal”. It offers you an exotic range of rolls, cutlets, puffs etc at really reasonable rates and to add to the eating frenzy they offer a 1+1 on any dish in their happy hours which start after 8:45 pm.
They also offer 50% off on rolls and burgers between 1:30 pm to 4:30 pm.

The food here is fresh and awesomely tasty. My personal favorites are barbeque chicken and the chicken tikka hot dogs, but don’t refrain from trying out the other rad dishes. Teri Rajput Dairy

All the Punjabi “Puttars” time to go Balle-Balle! ‘Teri Rajput Dairy & sweet’ is THE place to go to when you feel like having ‘ghar’ ka aloo ka paratha or chana bhatura. The food here will soothe even the most nostalgic and desi tongues. This modest shop right in the heart of Koregaon Park brings you the flavours of Punjab and more. Rajput has a small yet sumptuous menu of various vegetarian dishes that will definitely fill up your tummy and yet are so affordable that you don’t have to shy away from ordering as much as your heart desires. And to wash down all the yummy grub, just grab a glass of chilled lassi (which we highly recommend). The lassi is easily the USP of this place- thick, chilled and topped with yum cream.
The food at Rajput is simple, homely and delicious. The must haves are aloo paratha, chana bhatura, mutter paneer and puri bhaji.

The food is perfectly balanced with the right amount of salt and spices and the parathas and puris are cooked to perfection. The seating is just modest but then so are the rates. Often you have to wait for a seat but the food here is definitely worth the wait.

Easily accessible, right on the main KP road, just do not miss a chance to visit this awesome place and eat till you’re totally beat!

Darjeling Momos

This new place we sniffed out is yet again for the momo lovers! Recently a new stall has opened up in Vishrantwadi where you get the most amazing chicken momos. Darjeeling momos is the name of the place and yes, it does do justice to the name. The momos are yummy and do remind you of this majestic hill station. They are medium spicy, which is good for people who go in for less spice! But no worries for the chilly lovers, this place offers two chutneys, one is the simple and subtle tomato chutney and the other is the extremely hot and sizzling red-green chilly chutney. It is so spicy that the server even warns you before handing out this spicy treat! For the chilly cravers this chutney makes the momos just perfect. The tomato chutney is average and goes well with the momos.

The filling is the usual minced chicken with a dash of garlic in it. The covering is very thin which melts in the mouth! The momos are best served hot.

A must try! Light on your stomach as well as on your pocket. Don’t miss it! Go grab a plate and give us your feedback !

KP Special Momos !!!

This is definitely a must go for all the momo freaks !!!  It is small stall in KP lane 6 which serves sizzling hot veg as well as non veg momos. For the non veg lovers, the minced chicken filling with the perfect blend of spices will drag them to this place again and again. The vegetarians will surely love the cabbage filling with onions and many other veggies. The momos are not very spicy so to strike a balance of taste the chutney is really spicy. The sizzling hot and perfectly steamed momos just melt in your mouth and leave you craving for more.
This place is only open in the evening hours. Even without a name and exact address this place manages to gather a huge crowd. The service is really fast.  You find a lot of students here. This is the perfect place to go to if you are on the lookout for something tasty and cheap.  You will fall in love with this place !!!
